President's Message
We hope this message finds our members reflecting back a wonderful and restful summer spent with loved ones, making memories. We wish you the best as we all settle back into the routine that autumn brings.
This past May at our National Conference in Moncton, New Brunswick, we welcomed new members to our National Board of Directors and wanted to take some time to introduce them to you all.
October is here, which means it's time to start making plans to celebrate International Chefs Day.
Each year on October 20th, we celebrate International Chefs Day, a tradition founded in 2004 by the late Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher to honor our culinary profession and inspire the next generation. Worldchefs, in partnership with Nestlé Professional, is thrilled to bring you this year's exciting campaign: Food Explorers.
The 2025 theme invites children to embark on a culinary adventure as Food Explorers, discovering the joys of cooking, the importance of healthy eating, and the value of sustainable practices. By exploring fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, we can spark curiosity and creativity in young minds, nurturing their love for food and the planet. Together, we can make a lasting impact! Join thousands of chefs worldwide in hosting engaging workshops, sharing knowledge, and creating memorable experiences for children in your community. Whether it's a hands-on cooking session, a garden tour, or a fun nutrition activity, every moment spent with kids can inspire a lifelong passion for culinary arts.
HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
Here's how you can celebrate International Chefs Day 2025:
- Cooking Adventures: Host interactive workshops where kids can explore simple, healthy recipes using Nestlé Professional's 8 Hero Ingredients. Let them dive into the kitchen and discover the thrill of creating their own dishes.
- Nutrition Exploration: Teach children about balanced diets and the benefits of fresh, local produce. Share tips on making healthy eating exciting and accessible.
- Sustainable Food Journeys: Introduce kids to sustainable practices by visiting local farms or starting a garden. Use the toolkit's "Grow a Garden" guide to show them where food comes from.
- Creative Food Art: Encourage children to express themselves through colorful food creations, turning ingredients into edible masterpieces.
- Global Flavor Quest: Explore diverse cuisines to broaden kids' palates and foster an appreciation for cultural culinary traditions.
- Community Impact: Organize food donation drives to teach children about giving back and addressing food insecurity.
- The International Chefs Day Toolkit, available at worldchefs.org/internationalchefsday, equips you with everything you need: recipes, workshop tips, posters, certificates, and a recipe book for kids to take home. No event is too big or small—whether you spend 5 minutes or a full day, your efforts will leave a lasting impression.
If October 20th is busy, consider choosing any other day in October to connect with children.
